WIWT + WIDT (what I did today)

Inspired by some tumblrs that i follow (cbenjamin, suits+boots)and following a link that they both discussed last week (can't find it now), I've decided to go ahead with my first real post. The link showed step by step instructions on how to tailor a tie's width.

I had this great old Brooks Brothers tie sitting in my closet for years. I loved the vintage Gucci vibe it exuded with it's stripes and horsebit design but couldn't get myself to wear it because of it's gargantuan width.

Here is how it went down:
11:24 AM- admired the tie in it's original form before autopsying it:

11:25 AM- cut open the back and trimmed the liner using a slim tie :

12:25 PM- finally finished the resewing process and shazzzam:

1:05 PM- put on said tie and went out to do some errands:

Shirt: Rugby oxford club collar
pants: J. Crew original fit, ebay $4.99 (tailored)
tie bar: vintage, ebay $0.99
Tie: Brooks Brothers, hand-me-down

Enjoy the week!

In the beginning....

Hello possible readers-

The purpose of this blog is to keep myself busy create a forum of menswear as it applies to the everyman, not only the ones with large bank accounts. As a religious Jew, I have the need to wear conservative dress clothing often- between Shabbos in Shul and the zillion holidays we observe. As a broke father of 3, I have the need to stretch every dollar and not splurge on clothing (for some reason my wife is of the opinion that food on the table is more important- Women!!). I will be posting: steals I have bought on Ebay, things that I need to find cheap alternatives for, and pics of me trying to pull it all off. I welcome and appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks for reading............

Jay
